Ruth's Button Challenge

The doll Mary has been in need of some additions to her wardrobe, so she got two new outfits from this challenge: a casual shirt and dungarees with a shopping bag; and a dressy maxi dress with a matching clutch bag. Buttons feature on each piece and all the required elements are present. It was great the way all the contributions coordinated so well!

The blouse is made from Lesley's scarf and Kathy's blouse. The dungarees are from
Ruth's jeans. The shopping bag came from the inside pocket of the jeans with Louisa's elephant button on pocket. The dress fabric is from Julie's tunic with Miriam's beads decorating the bodice. The clutch bag has the challenge covered button.

I used the buttons in different ways: The dungarees have button loops; the blouse has hand sewn buttonholes. The dress has buttons sewn on the outside but actually fastens with press studs; the clutch bag has velcro holding it shut under the decorative button; the elephant button is just for decoration.

  1. Oh, Ruth, I love the two little outfits -- what a great idea! The dress is very stylish, and the overalls so cute. You've used everything together very well, the two little bags are a wonderful addition! Did you do most of it by hand, as it's so tiny?
