Adventures of four bunnies

A few days later Beatrice and Rosie peer wistfully from a window in the Old Waverly Hotel in Edinburgh wondering if their friends might be close by.

The Bird Project

The "great reveal" of our current challenge was held at the beginning of our fibre retreat in Keswick.  We were thrilled to see the variety of interpretations of the theme of Birds.  Each participant was also assigned two additional features to incorporate into her project.

Lesley created a peacock feather from torn fabrics, with fibres couched around the edge to make a border. Her criteria were concentric circles and couching.

Louisa surrounded a Panamanian appliqued panel with a circle of flying geese made of African fabrics. The criteria were to use overlapping and to include a circle and a square. 

Ruth wove a tapestry of a chickadee on a rowan/mountain ash branch.  The bird is woven of natural colours of hand spun wool. Her criteria were to use the colour orange and include outlines.

Kathy appliqued circles, edging them with couched yarns and a touch of embroidery. Her criteria were "analogous" and "haphazard". Lesley's "soup mix" was sprinkled on and stitched right where it fell. The bottom two birds each have a narrow metal bracelet bangle stitched on.
