I got it quilted!

HBC held by Ian

The great thing about having a son home for a few days is having someone to hold up a quilt for photos.  The quilt is 76” long, so Ian is just able to peek over the top.

I quilted an all-over pattern on the main part, and I put free-motion feathers in the border.  Now to get the binding on it, and I can hand it to Ruth to carry back to England in May.

Another Field of Flowers

I love your weaving, Ruth. It makes me want to get back to an idea I sketched out in the quilt design program a while back.  The background is pieced strips (I added the little bits of gold when I saw your weaving.)  The flowers are appliqued on top – perhaps yo-yos?   I haven’t had a chance to try it with actual fabric yet.

Watercolour weaving experiment

My little summer weavings have led to bigger things. I'm trying to create a picture by weaving an "underpainting" on which I can do some embroidery details. Here's the process of making the underpainting.

I've darned in the ends and attached it to a backing
More to come when I have done the embroidery!
